North America Sales Manager
Organizational context: Responsible for the ‘who and how’ of Area Sales Managers who spend 90% of their time in the Regional Team, focused on sales and increasing adoption. The ‘Who’ refers to all HR related areas such as hiring/firing, staffing, performance and development, individual growth, and career paths of people. The ‘How’ refers to the ways of working, tooling/applications, compliance, and alignment of processes in the Business Teams and Regions regarding sales.
The ‘what and when’ is led by the Regional Development Manager within the assigned region.
Summary:
The North America Sales Manager (NASM) oversees and inspires all commercial sales and leads team of Area Sales Managers (ASMs) to achieve annual sales forecasts and budgets. NASM is responsible for leading the team of ASMs in prospecting, securing, and providing ongoing support to Lely customers in North America. The NASM will focus and direct the activities of the ASM team on ‘who and how’ to increase new business within the existing client base, develop new relationships with prospects, and work in alignment with the respective Lely Center distribution partners. This position is responsible for the ‘who and how’ in developing and achieving the annual wholegood volume, revenue, and expenses as part of the overall North American wholegood budget. The NASM will work closely with the Regional Development Managers (RDMs) to plan sales activities in each region on the ‘what and when’ coming from the Regional Team.
The NASM will manage and direct the development and activities within the ASM group by setting objectives, challenging, educating, and coaching team members for future growth. This position will collaborate closely with leadership peers in Proposition Support, Proposition Management, Support Services, and Distribution Channel Development within Lely North America, contributing to key decision-making responsibilities for the business and ensuring a high level of customer and Lely Center Dealer satisfaction and support. Willingness to travel up to 40-60% domestically and/or internationally via car or plane.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the ASM team in the development of effective lead-generating activities to “fill the funnel” with prospective clients, manage the contacts in the CRM, and maximize conversion rates in cooperation with respective Lely Center distribution partners while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic sales goals.
- Strategically manage a client base for maximum sales growth
- Cultivate and sustain a strong ASM and Regional team dynamic to seamlessly deliver training, communicate effectively, and suggest and share information to resolve issues and/or complaints
- Nurture, collaborate, and manage relations with Lely International to target the Lely sector with planning or special projects
- Ensure consistent communication and collaboration with the Marketing team, Proposition Management, and Channel Development team
- Provide regular progress reports on goals and initiatives, and participate in the annual budget preparation
- Build and run an annual sales cycle, set direction, plan resources, and archive results to execute growth

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Business Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of business management experience focused on sales and/or marketing, and/or a combination of relevant education and experience required
- Understanding of dealer networks that include both indirect sales models and direct sales models
- Strong dairy stakeholder network or able to develop this to a high standard that Lely is experienced as a professional, innovative brand and preferred organization to work within the Dairy industry
